Whether you own a K1, K1 Max, K1C, or K1 SE model, this upgrade brings exciting new features that will expand your creative potential.

What’s Included in the K1-Series CFS Upgrade Kit? The K1-Series CFS Upgrade Kit is designed to add significant functionality to your 3D printer. Here's what the kit includes:

New Extruder Assembly : The kit comes with a dedicated extruder that features a built-in filament cutter and a run-out sensor. This upgrade ensures precise and accurate filament changes, which is crucial for smooth multicolor printing. Quick Connection to CFS : With the new extruder and components, the kit enables automatic RFID filament recognition and smooth filament switching. You’ll also have easy access to the relay system for better overall control. Multicolor Printing Support : The upgrade is specifically designed for multicolor 3D printing, allowing you to achieve vibrant, complex prints with multiple colors. How to Install the K1-Series CFS Upgrade Kit Installing the CFS Upgrade Kit involves a few steps, but don’t worry, it’s relatively simple. Here’s an overview of the process:

Replace the Extruder : Start by swapping out your existing extruder with the new one provided in the kit. Ensure the cutter and run-out sensor are properly integrated for optimal performance. Install Additional Components : Add any other components from the kit that are necessary for your model (K1, K1 Max, K1C, or K1 SE). Firmware Update : Once the hardware components are installed, you’ll need to update your printer’s firmware using the included USB drive. This ensures your printer is equipped with the latest features for multicolor printing. After that, you can continue to update your firmware via OTA (Over-The-Air) updates. For detailed instructions, you can refer to the video tutorials available on the Creality Wiki or YouTube:

If your K1 or K1 Max has a separate hotend assembly , it will not work with the CFS upgrade. In this case, you will need to purchase the integrated nozzle hotend separately. To help you determine if your current hotend is compatible, Creality provides a helpful guide on how to distinguish between the integrated and separate hotend assemblies. The integrated hotend lacks the set screws that are present in the separate hotend.

Troubleshooting Common Issues Like any upgrade, there may be a few issues that arise, but Creality provides solutions through their Wiki and troubleshooting guides. Some common issues include:

Error Code FR2849/FR2836 : These errors are often caused by filament feed issues. Make sure that the filament is properly loaded and that the sensors are not falsely triggered. Error Code TR2863 : This error typically indicates a filament break or a problem with the extruder filament sensor. Check the sensor and the filament inside the extruder to ensure everything is functioning correctly. For more detailed troubleshooting, refer to Creality’s Wiki article on error codes.

Important Tips for Using the CFS Upgrade Kit Firmware Update Required After installing the upgrade kit, make sure to update the firmware (Creality OS) using the included USB drive. Future updates can be done conveniently via OTA (Over-The-Air).

Impact on Print Volume For K1 , K1C , and K1 SE , the print size will be adjusted to 220 × 215 × 250 mm . For K1 Max , it changes to 300 × 295 × 300 mm . If you continue using the original stock spool holder, the print volume will remain unchanged. Top Cover and USB Port Notice During multicolor printing, the USB port stays functional but will be occupied by the upgrade. Additionally, the PTFE tube must be inserted vertically into the printer, which prevents the top cover from fully closing. Make sure to align the tube properly to avoid friction or filament feeding issues.

Conclusion The K1-Series CFS Upgrade Kit is a game-changer for anyone looking to dive into multicolor 3D printing. With its easy installation, dedicated extruder, and seamless integration with Creality’s ecosystem, it’s the perfect upgrade for K1-series owners. Whether you're a hobbyist or a professional, this upgrade offers new creative possibilities without the need for a completely new printer.
