Creality Falcon A1 FAQ Guide | Common Questions Answered

Having been on sale since March 2025, the Creality Falcon A1 10W laser engraver has now been assisting users for close to a year. Throughout this period, we have gathered and organised the most frequently asked questions from our users along with their solutions. Feel free to explore.

This article is designed to provide clear and practical guidance, covering essential aspects such as equipment operation , engraving and cutting techniques , and software use , to help you fully realise the potential of your device for safe and efficient creative projects.

Equipment Operation 1. What is the maximum working area of the equipment? 381mm x 305mm.

2. What is the type of laser source in the equipment? It is a semiconductor laser with a wavelength of 455±15nm.

3. What occurs if the equipment loses power during operation? Should a power cut happen whilst an engraving task is running, the laser head will remain in its position. Upon repowering and startup, the equipment will initialise and will not continue the previous task.

4. Why is the pattern not engraving at all (or only very lightly)? Ensure the imported image is clear, that focusing is performed correctly prior to engraving, and that the configured power, speed, and number of passes are suitable.

5. Why is there a significant difference between the engraved pattern and the original image (e.g., lines are not straight or appear crooked)? Check that all equipment screws are tightened and that the drive belts are not overly slack.

Method for checking: Belt tension is suitable if the laser module can slide slowly down the vertical X-axis extrusion under gravity, and if none of the idler wheels in the laser head assembly spin freely. If not, adjust the belt tension manually.

6. What to do if the pattern engraves incompletely or with inconsistent depth? Ensure the workpiece surface is flat, the equipment is level, and that you have focused the laser correctly as per the instruction manual.

7. Can the laser engraving process damage the worktable? When engraving very thin materials (such as paper), the laser may penetrate the material and mark the worktable. It is advisable to place a laser-impermeable material (like an aluminium plate) beneath the item being engraved.

8. For offline engraving, why does pressing the start button after power-on not begin the engraving? Ensure a valid engraving file is present in the root directory of the TF card and that the card is inserted.

Important:

By default, the equipment reads the engraving file in the TF card root directory with the most recent system modification date. It is good practice to delete other unrelated files from the root directory. Files must be generated using Falcon Design Space or LightBurn software. Compatible formats are: .gcode, .gc, .g, .nc, .ngc. 9. Why does the equipment show no response after being connected to power?

Check the power plug is fully inserted at the equipment end. Verify the mains power socket is live. Confirm the equipment's power switch is in the ON position. Check that the Emergency Stop switch and Safety Interlock are disengaged/engaged properly. 10. Is it necessary to wear safety goggles when using the equipment? The equipment incorporates a protective, light-sealed design and a MEMS tilt sensor that halts operation if tilted. Even so, we still highly recommend the use of protective goggles during engraving.

11. What effect does a slack synchronous belt have on engraving or cutting results? It will cause the engraving to become deformed with noticeable misalignment—for instance, a circle may appear elliptical.

Engraving and Ctting Techniques 1. Which non-transparent materials can the CR-Laser Falcon engrave or cut

Engraving : Cardboard, wood, bamboo, rubber, leather, fabric, acrylic, painted metal, plastics, etc. Cutting : Cardboard, wood, bamboo, cloth, leather, fabric, acrylic (cannot cut transparent acrylic), plastics, etc. 2. Is it possible to engrave on curved materials? Yes , but the curvature of the material and the size of the engraved graphic should not be excessive, or slight distortion may result.

3. Can reflective/transparent materials such as ceramic or glass be engraved? Yes . However, prior to engraving, a non-reflective coating must be applied to the material surface. This guarantees the engraving outcome and safeguards the laser head from reflected light damage.

4. Why is there a considerable variation in processing results when using the same G-code file on the same material type but with different colours? Different coloured materials possess distinct optical properties, leading to variations in laser energy absorption and reflection. It is advisable to configure different power and speed settings in the software when engraving the same material type in different colours.

5. How should black soot on the material after cutting be addressed? Please suitably reduce the laser power, increase the speed, and activate the air assist with a forceful air stream.

6. Why is the material failing to be cut through?

Ensure both the equipment and the engraving material are parallel to the worktable surface. Ensure the protective lens on the laser module is clean. Ensure correct focusing as per the method in the Quick Use Guide. Ensure the air pump is operating correctly and is switched on during the cutting process. Verify the material thickness and density again, consulting the recommended parameters in the supplied materials. Gradually increase the number of cutting passes, or appropriately reduce the cutting speed. The same material may differ in quality, and ambient air conditions, humidity, etc., can vary, meaning cutting parameters may need adjustment. 7. Is it advisable to use air assist? Main purposes of air assist :

Effectively disperses smoke and particles generated during engraving or cutting, protecting the laser module lens and ensuring consistent laser energy. Rapidly lowers the temperature of the material surface during cutting, removes hot particles, maintains a clean material surface, and yields flatter, finer cut edges. Recommendation : Engage a low air stream for engraving and a stronger air stream for cutting (the effect depends on the specific material).

Software Use 1. Which software applications are supported by the equipment?

What should be done if a Windows 7 system fails to recognise the corresponding COM port for the engraver? Extract the "Drivers for Win7" file contained within the supplied materials. Access Device Manager and proceed with a manual driver installation.

6. If the software is unresponsive or fails to connect during real-time equipment control via data cable, what steps should be taken?

Ensure the data cable is securely plugged in. The cable must support data communication, and the computer end must feature a USB-A connector (Apple Mac users should employ a hub with USB-A ports or a USB-A to USB-C adapter). Confirm the COM port corresponding to the engraver is not occupied by another process. Restart the equipment and the software application. If connection remains unsuccessful, please record a brief video of the connection attempt and relay the relevant system information and software version number to customer support.
