Creality Filament Maker M1 & Shredder R1 – The First Desktop System to Recycle & Create

3D printing empowers endless creativity, but failed prints, soaring filament costs, and bland off-the-shelf options cramp your style. Imagine turning waste into custom, high-performance filament right on your desk – slashing expenses, boosting sustainability, and unlocking scents, textures, and composites no store sells.

Enter Creality Filament Maker M1 & Shredder R1 , the complete desktop filament recycling system that's redefining maker independence.

Backed by Creality's proven ecosystem (over 780,000 service cases in H1 2025), this duo shreds, dries, extrudes, and spools pro-grade 1.75mm filament from scraps. It's not hype – testers like Steve Makes Everything call the M1 "one of the most important developments in home 3D printing" for recycling failures and cutting costs.

The Hidden Costs of 3D Printing – And How M1 & R1 Fix Them Every maker knows the pain: bins overflowing with failed prints, supports, and purge strands. Filament prices climb, custom colors cost a fortune, and waste harms the planet. Creality's desktop filament extruder M1 and 3D print shredder R1 close the loop, turning yesterday's trash into tomorrow's spools.

Reduce waste by 80-90%: Process PLA, PETG (ABS/ASA/PC soon), even PET bottles. Slash costs: Recycle scraps instead of buying new – produce 1kg/hour of virgin-grade filament. End material limits: Blend custom formulas for any project. At TCT ASIA 2026, influencers tested it live; @stlflix_ toured Creality HQ, praising the shift to "desktop factories."

Shredder R1: From Waste to Ready Pellets in One Unit

The 13kg R1 is your all-in-one prep station – no extra dehydrators needed.

Powerful shredding: 650W motor + 60Nm reducer with dual-shaft blades yields uniform 4mm pellets at 3kg/hour. Low-speed design keeps noise workshop-friendly. Built-in drying: 100W PTC heater and closed-loop sensor dry pellets internally. Moisture-free output feeds straight to the M1. Easy inputs: Pre-cut failed prints, trees, or bottles. One material at a time for best results. Filament Maker M1: Precision Extrusion for Custom Masterpieces

This 15kg beast (555x245x570mm) packs a full production line: extrusion, cooling, pulling, and auto-spooling. Industrial tech miniaturized for your bench.

"Embrace Making" demoed it crafting gradient PLA from mixed scraps – flawless results.

Core Specs :

Feature Details Throughput 1kg/h (virgin PLA), 600g/h (50/50 mix), 500g/h (100% recycled) Diameter 1.70-1.80mm (virgin), 1.65-1.80mm (recycled) – printer-ready Screw/Motor 210mm screw + 100W FOC servo for tough composites Heat Zones 3 independent zones up to 350°C (PLA, PETG, ABS, PA, PC, PET, ASA, TPU, CF/GF) Cooling 8x 7W turbo fans for round, stable filament Controls 3.2" touchscreen, real-time diameter sensor, auto-pause alerts, OTA updates A 6-hour uncut test proved rock-solid stability.

Creality's Kevin revealed factory engineering: no cold spots, uniform melt for defect-free output.

Your Material Lab: Custom colors: Blend masterbatches for brand-specific reds or gradients – ideal for studios. Scented prints: Add coffee grounds, lavender, or rose powder for aromatic layers. Reinforced strength: Mix carbon/glass fiber for rigid, premium-finish parts – skip specialty markups. Textures: Walnut shell for matte, wood dust for grain – elevate display models. Bottle recycling: R1 pellets + M1 = closed-loop PET filament. Safety first: Enclosed chamber, HEPA/carbon filters, anti-scald nozzles, metal feed mesh.

Who It's For: Makers Taking Control Hobbyists: Recycle daily failures, save $150 yearly. Pros/Designers: Small-batch customs beat supplier delays. Educators/Workshops: Teach sustainability hands-on. Eco-makers: Minimize plastic waste in a full desktop loop. "Factory to Desktop" deep-dive with Creality's host shows optimal 50/50 ratios for peak performance.
