How to Replace the K2 Hotend?

Replacing the hotend on your Creality K2 is a routine maintenance task that helps restore print quality when you encounter issues such as clogging, inconsistent extrusion, or nozzle wear. This guide walks you through the complete replacement process using a K2 hotend kit.

Tools You’ll Need

Before starting, prepare the following items:

• Hex (Allen) wrench
• New K2 hotend assembly

How to Replace the K2 Hotend?

Step 1: Removing the Old Hotend

Gently detach the magnetic front cover to expose the hotend area.

Step 2: Disconnect the Heating Cartridge and Thermistor

Carefully unplug the heating wire and thermistor cable from the hotend.

Step 3: Loosen the Mounting Screws

Using a hex wrench, remove the four screws securing the hotend assembly.

Step 4: Remove the Hotend Assembly

Carefully pull out the damaged or worn hotend from the mounting slot.

Step 5: Install the New Hotend Assembly

Insert the replacement hotend into the correct position, ensuring proper alignment.

Step 6: Secure the Hotend

Use the hex wrench to tighten the four mounting screws evenly. Do not overtighten.

Step 7: Reconnect the Heating and Thermistor Wires

Plug the heating cartridge and thermistor cables back into their original connectors.

Step 8: Reinstall the Magnetic Cover

Attach the magnetic cover back into place.

Device Self-Check and Calibration

Power On the Printer

Reconnect the power cable and turn on the K2 printer.

Run Automatic Calibration

On the touchscreen, follow this path:

Prepare → Calibration → Select All → Start

Wait for the calibration process to complete before printing.
