K2 Pro & CFS Firmware Upgrade Guide
Keeping your Creality K2 Pro and CFS system up to date is essential for stable performance, feature improvements, and compatibility fixes.
This guide explains K2 Pro and CFS firmware formats, USB upgrade and rollback methods, and online firmware updates, along with important post-upgrade calibration steps.
K2 Pro & CFS Firmware Overview
Before upgrading, it’s important to understand how firmware works on the K2 Pro ecosystem:
- K2 Pro firmware format: .img
- CFS firmware format: .bin
- CFS firmware upgrades must be performed through the printer while the CFS is connected
- During a K2 Pro firmware upgrade, if the system detects that the connected CFS firmware version is outdated, the CFS firmware will be automatically and forcibly upgraded
This ensures version compatibility between the printer and the filament system.
How to Check the Current Firmware Version
You can view the installed firmware version directly on the printer screen:

1. Go to Settings
2. Open Version Information
3. Check the current K2 Pro and CFS firmware versions
This step is recommended before downloading or rolling back firmware.

- The printer must be linked to your Creality Cloud account
Step by Step Online Upgrade
Step 1: Check for Updates
- Go to Settings → Version Checking
- If a new version is available, a red dot notification will appear

If you have multiple CFS units, ensure only one CFS is connected during the upgrade. This limitation will be resolved in future firmware versions.
Step 2: Download Firmware
- Tap Download
- The installation will begin automatically once the download finishes
Step 3: Automatic Restart
- Wait for the installation to complete
- The printer will restart automatically
Step 4: Post-Upgrade Calibration
After rebooting:
1. Go to Settings → Device Self-Test
2. Enable Input Shaping and Auto Leveling
3. Tap Start Detecting
4. Begin printing after calibration completes

Key Notes for Successful Firmware Upgrades
- Always perform calibration after a firmware update
- Keep only one CFS connected during upgrades
- Ensure stable power during the entire process
- Forced CFS upgrades are normal when firmware versions are mismatched
