SPARKX i7 PTFE Tube Guide: Inspect, Replace & Prevent Filament Issues

One of the most overlooked components in the feeding system is the PTFE Tube. While it may look like a simple plastic pipe, it is the highway for your filament. Over time, continuous friction can wear down the inner walls, leading to increased resistance, under-extrusion, or annoying filament jams! If you're noticing filament feeding getting tricky or jams during long prints, the culprit might be your PTFE tube . This small but crucial part guides filament from your spool holder, CFS lite, CFS mini, or spool holder straight to the toolhead manifold.

In this guide, we’ll walk you through when, why, and how to replace your PTFE tubes to keep your feeding system running like new.

Why Replace Your SPARKX i7 PTFE Tube? As filament travels from your CFS lite, CFS mini, or Spool Holder to the Toolhead Manifold, it creates micro-friction. Eventually, the tube wears out.

Inspect every 3 months or whenever your printer prompts maintenance. Spot visible wear? Swap it out ASAP to avoid print fails.

Pro Tip : Stick to official SPARKX accessories for perfect fit. Third-party tubes? Keep the original PTFE clips!

PTFE Tube Specs at a Glance

Diameter: Outer 4 mm, inner 2.5 mm

Setup Length Quantity Spool Holder 570 mm 1 CFS mini 870 mm 1 CFS lite 980 mm 4 Step 1: Removing the Old PTFE Tube The removal process is consistent across all ports: Press the black pneumatic fitting collar down while simultaneously pulling the tube upward/outward.

From Toolhead Manifold Press the black collar on any of the four ports on top of the manifold and pull the tube up. Use tools if it's tight.

From Spool Holder Locate the rotating joint; press the collar and pull the tube out.

From CFS mini On the filament output side, press collar and pull outward.

From CFS lite There are four ports on the top cover. Press and pull each one individually.

Step 2: Installing the New PTFE Tube Push until it stops, then gently tug to confirm it's locked. Secure the toolhead cable in the manifold clip last.

For Single Printer or Autofill Combo (Spool Holder/CFS mini) This setup requires only one PTFE tube.

Insert into Source : Push one end of the tube into the Spool Holder joint or CFS mini outlet until it bottoms out. Secure : Gently pull back on the tube; it should stay locked in place. Insert into Toolhead : Push the other end into any available port on the Toolhead Manifold. Cable Management : Snap the Toolhead Cable into the manifold clip slot to keep everything tidy.

For CFS lite Setup This setup requires four 980 mm tubes. We highly recommend the SPARKX multicolor PTFE tube kit for easy identification.

Toolhead Side : Align all four tubes and seat them into the four ports on the Toolhead Manifold. Pull gently to confirm they are locked. CFS lite Side (Crucial Alignment) : Insert the two slightly shorter tubes into the middle two ports of the CFS lite. Insert the two slightly longer tubes into the outer (left and right) ports. Finalize : Secure the tube bundle and the Toolhead Cable into the five-port clip.

Final Word Following this guide, your SPARKX i7 will hum along without a hitch.

If feeding issues persist post-replacement, check extruder gears or bowden tension.
