This guide walks you through when and how to replace the i7 series quick-release hotend , step by step.

About the i7 Hotend System The hotend is the heart of your toolhead. To give makers maximum flexibility, the SPARKX i7 supports four nozzle diameters:

0.2 mm : For ultra-fine detail and miniature models. 0.4 mm : The versatile standard for everyday printing. 0.6 mm & 0.8 mm : Optimized for rapid prototyping and high-flow structural parts. Pro Tip : If you switch nozzle sizes, always remember to update the nozzle diameter in the printer’s Settings menu to ensure correct extrusion flow.

When Should You Replace Your Hotend? You don’t need to wait for a total failure to swap your assembly. Consider a replacement if:

Switching Nozzle Sizes : Moving from a 0.4 mm to an 0.8 mm for a large project. Persistent Clogs : When cold pulls or needles no longer clear the internal path. Physical Damage : Wear on the nozzle tip or damage to the heating element. Routine Maintenance : We recommend a fresh assembly after six months of heavy use to maintain peak print quality. Safety & Preparation

Required Tools : A new i7 Hotend Assembly and heat-resistant gloves. Safety First : Ensure the hotend and heated bed are completely cooled. If the hotend must be warm for removal, always wear heat-resistant gloves. Filament Check : The hotend can only be replaced when empty. Either unload the filament via the UI or manually press the cutter arm to snip the filament inside the toolhead. Replacement Procedure Step 1: Removing the Old Hotend Access the Core : Remove the toolhead front cover to expose the extruder. Remove the Sock : Pinch the sides of the silicone hotend sock and pull it outward and downward. (You can use a wrench to gently pry it if it’s stuck). Unlock the Lever : Flip the hotend release lever upward. Hook the latch onto the upper protrusion and pull until the hotend is released. Note: If the hotend is stuck, heat it to 100°C via the interface to loosen any residual plastic, then pull horizontally. Extract : Hold the lever and pull the integrated hotend assembly straight out horizontally. Step 2: Installing the New Hotend Insert : Hold the release lever of the new assembly and slide it horizontally into the heating unit.

Seat the Nozzle : Lift the hotend upward as shown in the alignment guides to ensure it is properly seated. Lock it Down : Engage the latch hook into the upper slot and press the release lever downward to lock the assembly in place. Reassemble : Slide the silicone sock back on (aligning the notch with the nozzle) and snap the front cover back into place. Final Step After installation, check whether the installed hotend specification matches the printer settings.

Navigate to: Settings → Print Settings → Nozzle Select the correct diameter (e.g., 0.4 mm) to match your new hardware. Your SparkX i7 is now ready to print!
