Throughout 2025, creators around the world used 3D scanning to solve problems, explore ideas, and bring concepts to life — from precision engineering and reverse engineering to creative design, automotive customization, and research projects. To celebrate these achievements and close the year together, we’re launching a special community-driven initiative:

This is not just a competition. It’s a year-end reflection of how 3D scanning is being used across industries, workflows, and creative fields — powered entirely by the community.

What Is #ScanOfTheYear2025? #ScanOfTheYear2025 is an annual 3D scanning showcase designed to highlight real-world applications, personal projects, and creative breakthroughs from our global scanner community.

The goal is simple:

Reflect on your 2025 scanning journey Share the projects you’re most proud of Learn from how others apply 3D scanning in different scenarios Whether your work focuses on engineering accuracy, creative expression, or practical problem-solving, this showcase is about celebrating progress and growth.

Core 3D Scanning Categories Participants can submit their work to one or multiple categories, based on how their project is applied.

1. Reverse Engineering Industrial and mechanical projects centered on precision, replication, and functional accuracy. Typical examples include reverse engineering parts, mechanical components, tooling, and fit-critical designs.

2. Creativity & 3D Printing Creative scans transformed into digital art, visual content, or 3D printed objects. This category highlights imagination, design thinking, and creative workflows.

3. Automotive & Customization 3D scanning for vehicle modification, custom parts, interior or exterior upgrades, and automotive design projects.

4. Other Applications Educational use cases, research projects, cultural preservation, personal experiments, and hobby-driven scans that don’t fall into traditional categories.

Event Stages & Timeline The #ScanOfTheYear2025 showcase is divided into four stages, each lasting one week and focusing on a different category:

Stage 1: Reverse Engineering — Dec 14–20 Stage 2: Creativity & 3D Printing — Dec 21–27 Stage 3: Automotive & Customization — Dec 28–Jan 3 Stage 4: Other Applications — Jan 4–10 Each stage highlights one core scanning scene

Winners are announced at the end of each stage

Detailed rewards are shared separately

This structure allows creators to focus on one theme at a time — while still giving everyone multiple chances to participate.

How to Participate Joining the #ScanOfTheYear2025 showcase is straightforward:

Post your project during the corresponding stage Choose the category (or categories) that best fit your work Include the hashtag #ScanOfTheYear2025 Add a short project description (50–100 words) Winners for each stage will be announced after the stage concludes.

Submission Guidelines To ensure fairness and clarity, please follow these guidelines:

Projects must be completed in 2025 (earlier scans allowed if finalized or completed this year) Submissions must match the theme of the current stage Include a 50–100 word description, covering: Why you chose this project The story, idea, or technical highlights behind it How this scan reflects your skills, creativity, or passion Evaluation Criteria Submissions are evaluated based on:

Scan quality Creativity and storytelling Presentation and clarity A Showcase for the Entire 3D Scanning Community #ScanOfTheYear2025 is built for everyone — engineers, designers, creators, professionals, and beginners alike.

There’s no rush. No pressure to be “perfect.”
