Creality K2 Plus Idler Wheel Noise Lubrication Guide

Regular maintenance is the key to keeping your Creality K2 Plus running smoothly and producing accurate prints. One essential task is lubricating the idler wheels to prevent noise, reduce wear, and extend the life of your machine.

This guide covers why lubrication is necessary, how often you should do it, the tools you’ll need, and step-by-step instructions.

Why Lubrication is Necessary The K2 Plus features an all-metal idler structure, which is prone to friction noise and rust over time. Without regular care, this can shorten the lifespan of your equipment and affect print quality.

Anti-rust & Noise Reduction – Lubrication helps prevent corrosion and reduces metal-on-metal noise. Factory Pre-Maintenance – Each K2 Plus receives a basic lubrication treatment before leaving the factory, but continued maintenance is essential for long-term performance. Recommended Maintenance Cycle Frequent Use ：Lubricate once per week Infrequent Use – Lubricate once every two weeks 💡 If you hear abnormal metal friction noises during operation, stop immediately and perform maintenance. Lubricant & Filament Specifications Recommended Lubricant: WD-40 Specialist® Silicone

Ensure it has an authentic anti-counterfeiting mark. Safe for use on belts without causing damage. Strictly Prohibited: Non-certified lubricants

Step by Step Lubrication Procedure Tools You’ll Need Lint-free cloth WD-40 Specialist® Silicone 1. Clean the Idler Wheels Use a lint-free cloth to wipe dust and debris from the idler wheels on the left X-axis assembly (2102013343) and right X-axis assembly (2102013346). Avoid paper towels that may leave fibers. 2. Apply Lubricant to X-axis Idlers Shake the WD-40 Specialist® Silicone well. Spray onto the plastic assembly and wait about 5 seconds for penetration. Manually move the hotend to ensure even lubrication. 1

3. Lubricate Additional Assemblies Repeat the process for:

4. Clean & Lubricate the X-axis Guide Rail Wipe with a lint-free cloth. Spray WD-40 Specialist® Silicone along the entire rail. See K2 Plus X-axis Guide Rail Cleaning Guide for detailed steps. 5. Clean the Y-axis Lead Screws Over time, sticky black residue may form. Use a PETG-printed lead screw cleaning tool to clamp both sides of the screw. Perform a homing operation to clean (see video). Refer to the K2 Plus Z-axis Lead Screw Cleaning Guide. 6. Final Noise Check Move the hotend manually to confirm the noise is gone. If noise persists, replace the K2 Plus idler module as shown in the Replace K2 Plus Idler Module guide.
