How to Switch K2 Plus from CFS to Spool Holder Filament？

Switching your Creality K2 Plus from the CFS to an external spool holder is a simple yet essential process when you need flexibility in filament use.

Follow this step-by-step guide to safely switch loading modes and ensure smooth 3D printing.

Step 1: Check the Extruder for Filament Before you begin, ensure the printer is not currently printing. Then check whether filament is still present in the extruder:

No filament in extruder : If the filament has already been retracted by the CFS, skip to Step 4 .

Filament present in extruder : Proceed to Step 2 to unload the filament.

Step 2: Unload Filament via the Interface Go to the Filament page and click Retract .

The printer will move the extruder to the front-left, heat the nozzle to the set temperature, and automatically cut and retract the filament.

During this step, Extrude and Retract will be disabled (grayed out).

Step 3: Wait for Retraction to Complete After retraction, the CFS will pull back the filament automatically. Once finished, the Retract button will become active again.

Step 4: Remove the PTFE Tube from CFS Press and hold the pneumatic connector on the PTFE tube that links the printer to the buffer, then unplug the tube from the printer.

Step 5: Connect PTFE Tube from Spool Holder Take the PTFE tube from the external spool holder and insert it into the K2 Plus's pneumatic connector. You can refer to the "K2 Plus Spool Holder Printing Guide" for detailed visuals.

Step 6: Load Filament from Spool Holder Feed filament from the spool holder into the newly connected PTFE tube until you feel resistance. This indicates it has reached the extruder.

Step 7: Edit Filament Information Non-RFID Filament Click Edit under "Spool Holder", then enter filament brand, type, name, and color. Confirm by clicking OK .

RFID Filament Place the RFID chip near the side panel scanner. Once detected, a beep will sound and info will be auto-filled. You can edit it as needed. The RFID icon will disappear after editing.

Step 8: Load Filament into the Extruder On the Filament page:

Select the filament under "Spool Holder", then click Extrude .

The printer will heat the nozzle and begin loading. If nothing extrudes, gently push the filament toward the extruder from the back and retry.

Step 9: Confirm and Begin Printing Once filament is successfully extruded, you're ready to print using the external spool holder. Don’t forget to uncheck “Enable CFS” in the print settings.
